In the 66th year, NORAD helps Santa track Santa as he travels around the world to deliver Christmas gifts.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command Santa Tracker has been a tradition since 1955, when local newspaper ads told children to call Santa directly, but the numbers were printed incorrectly.
Instead of reaching for the deficit man, the children called Colonel Harry Shupe, the crew commander on duty, at the Continental Airlines Defense Command Operations Center, the predecessor of NORAD.
According to NORAD, Shoup quickly realized the mistake and continued to answer the phone and appoint a mission to ensure that the children had arrived in Santa. And the holiday tradition was born.
NORAD continues this tradition every year since reporting Santa’s whereabouts to millions of children around the world on Christmas Eve.
NORADSanta.org However, not only will you chase Santa, but it will also be released at 4am EST on Christmas Eve. There are also holiday countdowns, games, cinemas, holiday music, websites and more.
This website is available in eight languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Chinese.
There is also a NORAD Tracks Santa app for your phone.
The tracker can also call to find out where Santa is on the toll-free 1-877-Hi-NORAD (1-877-446-6723). There, talk to a live switchboard operator or listen to recorded updates.
