“It was everything really,” Gurira said of sharing the emotional moment with fans. “We didn’t know when and how it was gonna hit us—it hit us in various ways and various moments.” The actor also teared up while discussing how her new costars supported the returning cast on set. “You just never knew when it was going to be a really hard day. They were really amazing—our new family—they understood they were in a place where grief was happening. And they really held us up.”

During the panel, director Ryan Coogler shared a memory from the last time he debuted Black Panther footage at Comic-Con with Boseman before the film’s release in 2018. “He was really strong and he was getting excited and as the clip went on he was squeezing my shoulder the whole time and when it finished, I couldn’t even lift my arm,” Coogler said, per People. “I felt his hand for the rest of that day. Standing here with you all, listening to that music and thinking about it all, I promise you I can feel his hand on me right now.”
