Piers Morgan sparks row joking drivers should ‘drive over’ M25 protestors in Dover

Piers Morgan has clashed with environmental protesters for joking motorists should ‘drive over’ Insulate Britain protestors who are blocking the Port of Dover.

The TV presenter took to Twitter this morning and shared a video of a news outlet reporting on protestors being confronted by those caught up in the travel chaos on the A20 to disrupt the Channel crossing.

The 56-year-old posted: ”Just drive over them. Fewer people is good for the planet anyway. Win-win”

The comments were made with LBC’s video = which shows protesters sitting in the road holding a banner as far-reaching queues of traffic is brought to a standstill.

Piers’ tweets often cause backlash

It is the latest of a sting of protests around the South-East and Essex including the M25 where last week protestors glued themselves to the tarmac.

One parent also vocalised her concern to the protesters in the video said: ”Do you realise you’re actually losing the cause because I would have supported you, but I’ve got children who are supposed to going to school. Education is far more important than this right now.”

But once Piers shared the post and his strong views he hit a mountain of backlash from environmentalist.

One posted: “Shameful thing to say. You may not like what they are doing but there is a very real issue that they are bringing to the fore.”

Another added: ”There are also other very real issues that are affected by their actions.”

A third added: ”Well if any more of the loons run out onto the M25 being run over is a very real possibility isn’t it.”

And in a weird similarity, The Insulate Britain activist Liam Norton appeared on Good Morning Britain to respond to the backlash over the protests

But as the conversation got heated after they reminded him of a passenger who was caught in traffic and had a stroke, The Insulate Britain campaigner proceeded to storm off the set, while Richard laughed and compared the walk-off to an infamous moment from the ITV show earlier this year.

He said: “You’re doing a Piers. Bye.”

Bye Bye Piers!
