Piers Morgan says Britain has ‘massive brain cell shortage’ amid fuel chaos

Piers Morgan

has made his thoughts known on the current fuel situation in Britain.

As travellers on Monday rushed to the pumps across the nation to try to fill up their vehicles, many were left disappointed to find the filling stations out of fuel.

And now the former Good Morning Britain presenter, 56, has made his thoughts known about the current situation.

Piers, who earlier in the month announced that he will be hosting a brand new TV show that he promises will ‘celebrate the right of everyone to have an opinion’, took to Twitter to share his views on the petrol crisis.

He bluntly tweeted to his eight million followers: “There is no fuel shortage in Britain. But judging by the ridiculous scenes at petrol stations all over the country, there is a massive brain cell shortage.”

Users of the social media platform were quick to make their thoughts known to the journalist, with his remarks certainly causing mixed reactions.

One commented: “Half a tank in my car from last Thursday thankfully not in work until Wednesday and that will get me to Manchester Airport and home a couple of days. Refuse to be a sheep.”

Another said: “yep no shortage, but the pumps are empty…. maybe you dont get what it means by shortage.”

And a third wrote: “Am I in the minority who hasn’t bothered to get fuel this week?”

Piers’ comments come after fuel shortages were witnessed across the country yet again on Monday, causing some people to panic buy.

Some filling stations quickly ran out of petrol for the second day running, while others had to impose a strict service limit of £30 per transaction.

Over the weekend, the government pleaded for drivers to stop filling their cars “when they don’t need it”.

Unfortunately, the request seemed to fall on deaf ears as areas all over the country watched on as long queues snaked around forecourts.

Piers’ comments were far from his first outcry in recent months, however.

After all, it was his outspoken views on Meghan Markle following her interview with Oprah Winfrey in March that led to him leaving his role on ITV’s breakfast show.

He also labelled the NTAs “pointless” after yet another year in which Ant and Dec took home the best presenter honour – this time ahead of Piers.

And in May last year he also took aim at the Prime Minister, calling Boris Johnson’s coronavirus plan “disgraceful”.
