A teenager in Kilwinning was detained in connection with a woman’s injury in town on New Year’s Day.
Police were asked to report an incident on Ladyford Avenue in town at 1:45 am on Saturday, January 1.
Police officials said the woman was slightly injured after the incident and police investigations continued.
A 17-year-old man who could not be identified for legal reasons was arrested in connection with the incident.
The teen appeared privately in Kilmarnock State Court on Monday, January 3, and was charged with assault and injury.
He was also charged with carrying offensive weapons in public places without legal authority or reasonable excuses and failing to comply with bail conditions.
The accused did not enter a plea during the hearing and was committed to further investigation.
He has been detained and will appear in court at a later date for a full trial.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Police said:
“One woman was slightly injured.
“A 17-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with this case. He was scheduled to appear in Kilmarnock State Court on Monday, January 3.”
