Jimmy Carr has shared for the first time about becoming a father.
The comedian, 48, first sparked speculation that he welcomed a tot with his partner Karoline Copping, 46, after being seen pushing a pram on several occasions since 2020.
And recently, he seemed to hint that he was a parent after making a crude joke during a stand-up gig – and the happy news has now been confirmed in his new book.
Writing in Before & Laughter by Jimmy Carr, which will be released on September 30, the funnyman shared on parenting as he reflected on being an ‘older’ dad.
He teased that he is conscious about trying to keep himself in tip-top shape for his son, who he welcomed in his late 40s.
In an excerpt, shared in the Daily Mail, Jimmy poked fun at his ageing and how his fondness for plastic surgery will mean that his son “won’t realise” he is “older than the other dads.”
Making light of his age, Jimmy pens: ” I take a lot of omega-3 fish oils and I try to eat right and exercise but, let’s face it, I may have forgotten all my wisdom by then and where I left my keys.
“At least I’ll still look the part. Thanks to the wonders of my plastic surgeon, I’m hoping my son won’t realise I’m older than the other dads.
“He’ll come and talk to me about his problems because, unlike the other dads, I’ll never seem shocked or surprised, disappointed or sad, primarily because Botox has robbed me of the ability to move my forehead.
“Just like everyone else you know, I’m going to die, although in my case, large parts of me will not biodegrade. I imagine my teeth will outlive us all.”
Jimmy says in his autobiography that any wisdom he has for his mini-me will be from his career as a stand-up comedian.
He then pokes fun at his 2012 tax-dodging scandal as he writes: “It taught me all the skills I needed for life, except for tax accounting.”
The 8 Out of 10 Cats star was among a number of high profile stars to be busted for alleged tax-avoiding back in 2012.
Jimmy was involved in a K2 tax avoidance scheme which was exposed in The Times and accused stars of quitting jobs to sign new employment contracts with offshore companies based in Jersey.
Jimmy has spoken out about his own involvement in the scheme in the past, and described it as a “terribly error of judgement” after he walked away from the scheme.
Recently discussing his fears on Sky One show Peeping Behind The Curtain Jimmy blushed: “It did feel that I was going to lose it all. It felt like maybe I was going to get cancelled.
“Maybe that’s it, maybe I won’t be able to work or tour again. It was scary. The thing you have to focus on is gratitude and go, ‘Oh what an amazing journey’.”
He hinted he was a victim of his own success, leading to his participation in the tax avoidance scheme, stating: “Making money stops making any kind of sense.
“You’re not being paid for what you do anymore — you’re being paid for who you are.
However, the star has been known to make headlines in the past also due to the fact he repaid hundreds of thousands in taxes.
Joker Jimmy and sweetheart Karoline have been dating for 20 years.
Karoline is the commissioning editor for Channel 5 and first met Jimmy at an audition – after that, they went on a date and the rest is history!
