Jennifer Aniston said she received a few Friends-inspired text messages after the rumours about her and David Schwimmer dating emerged.
The 52-year-old’s friends couldn’t help but send her a few iconic lines from the hilarious sitcom when her and her former co-star’s names hit the headlines.
During an interview, she was asked about the reports but the star found the whole thing “funny”.
“Honestly. I was getting a couple of texts from people saying, ‘I thought you were on a break, LOL,’” she told Marie Claire Australia.
“And I kept saying, ‘What are you talking about?’”
She continued: “And then I went online to see what was happening and I was like, ‘That is the funniest rumour that I never heard that got shot down in the quickest amount of time’.”
In the third season of Friends, David’s character Ross says the infamous line ‘We were on a break!’ for the first time after he sleeps with someone after a fight with Rachel.
It becomes a running gag in the series and is said often by the characters.
The duo, who play Rachel Green and Ross Geller on the iconic sitcom, admitted they had a crush on each other when the Friends cast reunited in May this year – much to the delight of fans.
But while the chemistry was real, they revealed they never actually hooked up in real life.
The pair admitted to reunion host James Corden that the timing was never right to pursue anything off-screen.
However, reports emerged in August that the two grew close again following the reunion special of the show.
Insiders even claimed the pair had been spending time together at Jennifer’s LA home.

A source claimed to Closer magazine: “After the reunion, it became clear that reminiscing over the past had stirred up feelings for both of them and that chemistry they’d always had to bury was still there.
“They began texting immediately after filming and, just last month, David flew from his home in New York to see Jen in LA.”
A representative for the actor later released a statement saying that there is “no truth” to the rumours of a romance.
