Gino D’Acampo’s 20-year marriage, gruesome first kiss and ex-boyfriend agreement

Gino D’Acampo is one of the nation’s favourite TV chefs, with a legion of adoring fans.

But the Italian hunk only has eyes for his wife Jessica Stellina Morrison, who he has been in a relationship with for almost three decades.

Childhood sweethearts Gino and Jessica met as teenagers when they both worked in Sylvester Stallone’s Mambo King restaurant in Marbella – Gino as a chef and Jessica a waitress.

He says it was definitely not love at first sight – in fact they spent the first few weeks arguing – but they would go on share their first kiss in the meat fridge.

They tied the knot in 2002 went on to welcome three children – sons Luciano, 19 and Rocco, 16, and eight-year-old daughter Mia.

Gino would later tell The Independent that getting married was the making of him.

“I was a boy, so I decided to get married and then I will be a man,” he said.

“When I decide something, I have to do something to make it happen.”

Gino D’Acampo says his wife Jessica isn’t jealous of women surrounding him on TV

Trust would remain a huge part of their relationship as Gino is always around women – but Jessica could not care less.

And similarly, Gino trusts Jessica completely and has even said he wouldn’t be bothered if she met up with an ex.

Speaking to Weekend magazine in 2019, Gino gushed: “When I met my wife I realised she was an extremely generous, clever woman.

“If you try to cage men it won’t work. I can do pretty much what I want. If I say, ‘I’m taking friends out’ she doesn’t say, ‘But you’ve been away for the past week’. There’s no point having a man around if he doesn’t want to be there.”

The This Morning star explained he employs hundreds of women in his restaurants, and is surrounded by women on TV and he loves it because he finds women more interesting than men.

“She doesn’t get jealous. She understands that if you want to be unfaithful, you’ll do it anyway. It’s a matter of trust,” he added.

“If she wants to have dinner with an ex-boyfriend, I couldn’t care less. I want her to be happy. If that makes her happy that evening, I’m doing my job.”

We often hear from couples who have had successful relationships as long at Gino and Jessica’s, that the secret to keeping the romance alive is date nights.

Gino and Jessica met as teenagers – but argued with each other for the first few weeks of their relationship

But that’s not the case for 45-year-old Gino – who has staunchly refused to pencil in a regular date night with his wife.

“We don’t do date nights. Date night is for teenagers… I think that date night is for people who want to prove something,” he told HELLO!.

“Sometimes we have this [pressure] to do a date night or we have to buy flowers or buy the chocolate. I’m not the kind of guy who does that. I don’t do it because I have to, I do it because I want to,” he continued.

“I don’t do anything on anniversaries because I’m not the kind of guy who buys a card or flowers or anything like that for the anniversary – I do that anyway.”

Gino recently had his followers blushing with some saucy snaps of him giving Jessica a massage in their garden, with Jessica lying topless on a bed while Gino drizzled oil over her back, captioning the photo: “A little extra virgin olive oil, a touch of rosemary and the wife is happy. This is not just a massage…..this is an Italian massage….GDx.”

And while they look the picture of marital bliss, it has not been completely plain sailing for the pair – Gino explained in 2010 that they actually split up for a year in the early days of their relationship.

“I would always have wondered,” he told the Independent Ireland.

“They say the grass is greener, but it’s not. You might have longer grass or shorter grass, but it’s not necessarily greener grass.”

The cheeky chef took to social media to share a couple of saucy snaps of himself treating his wife to a sensual “Italian massage”

Speaking about their parenting styles in the past, Gino has admitted that he is the stricter parent of the two.

“You can see my wife look at the children, saying with her eyes ‘Don’t even think about it, he’s not going to bend’,” the star once told Woman magazine.

He added: “My kids are not allowed to be fussy eaters. The problem with fussy children is their stupid parents.

“I run a family kitchen and in my house we don’t have options. I never had options, why should they?”

Jessica was the driving force behind Gino’s decision to move to the UK, which he credits with his success as it was here he landed a cooking segment on This Morning, starred on I’m a Celebrity, and now hosts Family Fortunes.

This has allowed him to buy his family two beautiful and historic houses – one of which is a Grade II listed seven-bedroom townhouse in Hertfordshire, and the other is on the Italian island of Sardinia, where he spends half of the year.

Gino was born into a large family in Torre del Greco in Naples but chose to make a base for his family on the idyllic island just off the coast of where he grew up.

On his blog, an old Q&A with the culinary maestro reveals his deep love for the island – and how after years of travelling and holidays, he only wants to be there.

He says: “Sardinia… has the best food, best wine and the most beautiful beaches. It’s better than the Maldives and even the Caribbean.

“We visited five years ago and loved it so much we have since bought a villa on the Costa SmeraIda.

“I spend my time writing, relaxing with my family and drinking wine. We have our own vineyard and produce Cannonau, a Sardinian red.

“I don’t really want to travel anymore as I’ve been to so many places in the last 10 years. But if I have to travel, for pleasure you will always find me in Sardinia.”

Gino is currently starring in his show Gordon, Gino & Fred Go Greek! on Mondays, alongside pals Gordon Ramsay and Fred Sirieix.

Fans of the show were recently left disappointed when they learnt the upcoming series will only feature two episodes.

The trio head to the Greek capital Athens in a vintage VW campervan after sampling the unique produce of the Greek islands, and the final episode airs Monday 4th October on ITV.
