Firefighters locate man trapped in tunnel

San Diego-Thursday, a man reportedly stuck in a vertical concrete tunnel in Point Loma was rescued by a San Diego firefighter.

According to the San Diego Fire Department, the dispatcher received a call from a man at around 2:45 pm. In an Instagram post.. He had a hard time explaining his position, so the coordinator said he stayed on the phone with him and used the emergency SOS tracker on his phone to determine where he was.

Shortly thereafter, the fire brigade was dispatched to Lowell Street in Point Loma, but still could not find him.

The problem was due to a concrete tunnel guessing the man’s phone signal. As it improved, they found him and pulled him out of the storm drain near Nimitz Boulevard just before 4 pm.

It was not immediately clear how an unidentified man arrived at the tunnel. He was not injured in the case.

In department posts, they urged residents not to climb storm drains and other tunnels.

“It’s not safe and he might not have been found if this person didn’t have a cell phone,” they said.
